Job Summary

We are seeking a Data or Business Analyst to join our data team. You’ll be responsible for managing master datasets, developing reports, and troubleshooting data issues. This role requires precision, creativity, and a deep understanding of data analytics tools and methodologies.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, turning complex data into clear insights that drive process improvements and strategic business growth.


Key Responsibilities

As a Data or Business Analyst at HRM Counsel, your day-to-day tasks will include:

  • Master Data Management: Handle the creation, updating, and deletion of master data sets to ensure accuracy and consistency.

  • User Management: Administer user roles and permissions to maintain data security.

  • Data Quality Assurance: Validate imported data and collaborate with quality assurance teams to maintain high data integrity.

  • Data Lifecycle Management: Commission and decommission datasets, ensuring proper documentation and compliance.

  • Data Processing: Manage confidential data according to established guidelines and privacy policies.

  • Reporting and Analytics: Develop reports and analyses to support business decisions and strategic planning.

  • Reporting Environment Design: Manage data sources, security, and metadata within the reporting framework.

  • Data Warehouse Support: Work with the data warehouse team to revise and refine reporting requirements.

  • Data Normalisation: Participate in initiatives for improving data integrity and standardization across systems.

  • Software Implementation: Assess, test, and implement new data tools or upgraded software to improve efficiency.

  • Report Generation: Create reports from multiple systems to support various departments and management.

  • Database Troubleshooting: Identify and fix issues within the reporting database environment.

  • Change Evaluation: Evaluate and manage updates to production systems and their impact on data pipelines.

  • User Training: Train end-users on new reports, dashboards, and visualisation tools.

  • Technical Expertise: Guide in areas like data mining, data cleansing, and storage structure optimisation.


Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a related field from an accredited university or college.

  • Experience: Proven work experience as a Data Analyst, Business Analyst, or in a similar analytical role.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyse existing databases and tools, identifying areas for optimisation and recommending data-driven solutions.

  • Business Understanding: Ability to translate business requirements into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.

  • Technical Proficiency:

    • Experience in managing large-scale databases and relational data systems.

    • Familiarity with SQL, Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar analytics tools.

    • Knowledge of data mining, data visualisation, and reporting techniques.

  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for identifying inconsistencies or errors in large data sets.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively across departments.

  • Adaptability: Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritise tasks, and work independently under minimal supervision.
