Business Analyst – Role Overview

As a Business Analyst, you will play a critical role in analysing, defining, and validating business, financial, and operational requirements across the organisation. You will work closely with executive stakeholders, project managers, developers, and end users to ensure that business needs are translated into clear, actionable system requirements.

This role involves planning, designing, and supporting business and IT systems, contributing directly to the success of enterprise projects and maximizing the value of technology investments.

Key Responsibilities

Business & Requirements Analysis

Meet with executive leadership, decision makers, business owners, technical teams, and end users to define business, operational, and system requirements.
Collaborate with project managers and sponsors to define project scope, goals, and vision.
Identify project stakeholders and establish clear roles and responsibilities.

Requirements Elicitation & Documentation

Conduct interviews, workshops, surveys, questionnaires, and workflow analysis to gather requirements.
Translate business needs into clear functional and technical requirements for development teams.
Develop and maintain standardized templates for requirement specifications.
Ensure requirements are complete, consistent, feasible, and aligned with organisational standards.

Process Modelling & Project Support

Create process models, diagrams, use cases, specifications, and flow charts.
Develop interface prototypes and system attributes based on analysis findings.
Manage and track requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
Communicate changes, enhancements, and updates to stakeholders clearly and effectively.

Testing & Quality Assurance

Support testing activities, including Smoke, System, UAT, Regression, and QA testing
Create and execute test scripts to validate system functionality.
Ensure delivered solutions meet business and technical specifications

Continuous Improvement & Leadership

Analyse existing requirement-gathering processes and recommend improvements.
Assist with software and hardware research to support purchasing decisions.
Provide guidance and mentoring to junior team members.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent experience
5+ years of Business Analyst experience in requirements analysis, elicitation, modelling, and validation
Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in test script creation and execution
Strong understanding of testing methodologies and best practices
Experience with web and desktop applications
Excellent data analysis, problem-solving, and documentation skills
Familiarity with software development, databases, and network architecture
Experience working with formal project management methodologies
close attention to detail and strong organisational skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with MS CRM, SharePoint, MS GP, SQL Server (2005 and above)
Background in overseeing software design, development, testing, and implementation
Experience creating project charters, functional specifications, training materials, and use cases
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a high-pressure environment
Team-oriented mindset with a collaborative approach
