Role Overview: Data Analyst

As a Data Analyst at NxtWave, you will be responsible for converting complex datasets into meaningful insights that directly impact business performance. You will work closely with Product, Marketing, Engagement, and Operations teams to analyse learner behaviour, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and support data-driven decision-making.

This role offers end-to-end ownership of analytics workflows—from data extraction and modelling to visualization and storytelling. If you are passionate about analytics, EdTech metrics, and solving real-world business problems using data, this role is an excellent opportunity to grow your career.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Translate business problems into well-structured data analysis tasks and deliver actionable insights.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including Product, Marketing, Engagement, and Operations, to understand requirements and define success metrics.

  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards to track business-critical KPIs.

  • Extract, clean, transform, and validate data from multiple sources using SQL (BigQuery).

  • Use Python for automation, exploratory data analysis (EDA), and data transformation tasks.

  • Perform statistical analysis and trend identification to uncover patterns, risks, and growth opportunities.

  • Build and maintain modular, scalable data models using DBT.

  • Ensure analytics best practices by documenting processes, maintaining data dictionaries, and enforcing data standardization.

  • Support forecasting initiatives and ML-based prioritization models when applicable.

  • Ensure accurate, timely, and high-quality data delivery across teams.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Must-Have Skills (Non-Negotiable)

  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, with hands-on experience using Google BigQuery.

  • Strong experience working with Looker Studio or similar BI and data visualization tools.

  • Excellent Google Sheets skills for quick analysis, reporting, and ad-hoc data exploration.

  • Solid understanding of statistics and the ability to interpret data distributions and trends.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain insights to non-technical audiences.

Preferred Skills (Highly Valuable)

  • Working knowledge of Python, including Pandas and EDA workflows.

  • Familiarity with key EdTech metrics, such as user engagement, retention, cohort analysis, and churn.

  • Experience collaborating in fast-paced, data-driven product environments.

Good-to-Have / Growth-Oriented Skills

  • Experience with DBT for scalable and maintainable data modelling.

  • Basic understanding of machine learning concepts such as feature engineering, model evaluation, and classical ML techniques.

  • Awareness of Generative AI tools for analytics automation and productivity improvements.

Work Experience

  • 1–2 years of professional experience in Data Analytics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
