Role: Software Engineer, Platform

As part of our newly formed Platform team, you’ll play a key role in scaling infrastructure, optimising performance of core product flows, and building robust end-to-end systems. This is a high-impact opportunity to shape the future of how people learn, read, and listen.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems and infrastructure.

  • Optimise performance across critical product flows to improve speed and reliability.

  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and data teams to enable smooth integrations.

  • Build automation, monitoring, and tooling to improve developer productivity.

  • Contribute to architectural decisions and guide best practices in platform engineering.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong proficiency in backend development (Node.js, Go, or similar).

  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

  • Solid understanding of scalable systems, microservices, and APIs.

  • Experience with databases (SQL/NoSQL), caching, and performance optimisation.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and monitoring tools.

  • Problem-solving mindset with a drive to build systems that scale globally.
